Rubber floor bunding is a superior bunding product designed for heavy vehicle movements. It creates a perfect barrier for wash-bays, is ideal when employed as secondary containment for liquid storage areas that contain bunded spill pallets or IBC bunds and water diversion as required.

The product is easily installed and is supplied in 5m sections or by the meter. Multiple sections are then joined seamlessly for a perfect watertight containment area.

Rubber floor bunding is 40mm x 120mm wide and opposed to square set bunding is not a trip hazard making it a more versatile option for spill containment.

When considering the right bunding for your business, take into account the amount of traffic and expected usage expected during its normal life cycle.

Rubber floor bunding stands up over time is designed to protect the environment yet provide vehicular access allowing for improved storage and transfer. We haven’t had a disappointed customer yet.

Rubber floor bunding fastens into solid concrete floors with masonry fasteners. The use of adhesives ensures it is watertight and leak proof.

  1. Simply lay the bunding out flat in the sun for 30 mins prior to the installation. This softens it for easier handling and shaping.
  2. Ensure the rubber is pre-drilled with a two-stage depth. This should be 25mm for the first (15mm deep) and 8mm – 10mm the rest of the way through creating a shoulder for the bolt.
  3. 45 degree angle rubber floor bunding cornerNext mark out and set out the area with a chalk line and lay the bunding out dry ensuring a good fit.
  4. Use the rubber bund as a template and drill the concrete with a masonry drill bit 10mm deep for the Dyna bolt.
  5. Remove and sweep the concrete dust from the work area.
  6. Liberally apply adhesive and start from one end working the bunding into place securing the bolt as you go.
PRO TIP: It’s wise to utilize an air blower to blow the dust and make sure you blow out the holes ensuring the bolts fit. If you are doing the installation yourself, steel Dyna bolts will allow for a superior installation.

  • Can I drive over it with heavy machinery?
    Yes, you can, but if it’s a known wheel path you can have some ramps made and fit over it. This sometimes works better than a sudden bump for forklifts and prolongs the lifespan of the product. Generally, as a rule, heavy graded earthmoving equipment is not advised to drive directly on the rubber floor bund.
  • Is it OK to use outdoors?
    Yes but it creates a watertight seal. If the water can’t get away then the area can pool up creating a hazard. Outdoor use such as wash bays usually has a floor waste allowing the water to get away. TRADE ENVIRO specialise in wash bay design and installations.
  • What adhesives do I use?
    Some surfaces respond better to different adhesives. We use Fuller 303 for the best results (SIKA FLEX doesn’t stick well to the rubber). Ensure a continuous line – for best results apply in a zig-zag motion.
  • How long will it take to get it?
    We can usually supply rubber floor bunding within 10 days. Installations need to be booked in advance.

Need a liquid storage solution for you factory?

Flex floor bunding is a quality product. Manufactured from Hi grade PVC encasing triangular shaped hi frequency foam.  Manufactured into a water proof collapsing floor bund that springs back to shape immediately after driving over It. Flex can handle heavy vehicles and creates a NO bounce-Flex making it popular with forklift operators ensuring they aren’t compromised when moving loads that involve crossing the bunding.

Sections can be replaced. It’s suitable for warehouses with fuel storage requirements, doorways and access points, liquid storage, spill trays, wash bays and other applications.

Flex floor bunding is suitable for typical bunding of any nature. It is designed for vehicle traffic and is installed by fastening flat bar (Ally, steel etc.) pinning it to the floor. We use adhesive to help adhere it and create the water proof seal.

90 degree corners are also available providing a complete containment area, or run a straight line across warehouse doors for example. Suitable for chemical storage areas, wash bays, any other storage area. Flex consists of 900GSM HD PVC and closed cell memory foam providing a robust anti-bounce bunding.

PRO TIP: Flex can potentially (after prolonged flexing) require a section to be replaced. It’s worth considering the time savings a no-bounce (faster warehouse movement) solution offers against the replacement costs after prolonged use.

How do I install it?
Flex takes some time to prepare for the install. First you need to mark out the area and set out the bunding to ensure you have it right with all the angles etc. It’s a good idea to pre drill the flat bar on a work bench and be as prepared as you can prior to the start of the project. Set out the bunding and place the pre-drilled flat bar down as a template. Lay it on the flat edges of the bund and drill into the concrete through the flat bar and PVC in one hit. Make sure you sweep away the dust and ensure the holes are clean before applying adhesive, blow them out if necessary. Apply adhesive, place bunding and fix outside edge only. When you have done the outside edge repeat the process on the outside edge and ensure you good adhesive under the inside edge for a water 100% water proof seal.
How long will flex bunding last?
Flex won’t last like our Rubber floorbunding will because of the constant flex from vehicle movement. If your applications are for a lot of vehicle movement then we suggest having some ramps built to prolong the life-span of yourbunding and possibly looking at rubber floorbunding as an alternative. Trade Enviro can fabricate ramps (Please click here for an example) to suit your bunding, talk to us for a complete package solution

How fast can I get it?
Usually 10 days for fabrication unless we have stock on hand. It’s worth calling; we may have some in stock.
What adhesive and fasteners should I use?
We use Fuller 303, we also use Sika on occasions. We apply in a zig zag motion onto the concrete and use ShureDrive™ Drive Anchors.

PRO TIP: Use a blower and ensure the holes are clean of concrete dust. There isn’t anything worse the a lodged dyna bolt that cannot recess into its hole- these small errors cost time and become annoying when they can be avoided easily. A bike pump with attachment works well.

EVA Floor Bunding

Trade Enviro can arrange to have ramps manufactured that straddle the bund and prevent wear and tear.

EVA bunding is a heavy duty foam product with an adhesive back, it’s shaped into 90cm pieces that you stick into place. It’s easily cut into corners and you can use contact adhesive on joins for a superior finish.  EVA needs a clean surface for the adhesive back to seal and is usually suited to new surfaces, painted floors. EVA bunding is very easy to install and creates a water tight bund.

EVA bunding is great if you’re applying it to a clean floor, its heavy foam compound moves minimally and is surprisingly strong. For heavy vehicle use you can have ramps made to straddle the bund and avoid wear and tear. Its 34mm in height and has a bevelled edge. We recommend EVA bunding for indoor applications. The bunding has a unique joining mechanism utilising a wishbone style attachment, ensuring a good straight line and a water tight installation.

What should I use 22mm or 40mm?
This depends on the application, you need to calculate the storage area you require and then look at the overall size for your movement requirements, if you can use 22mm its less bounce factor. Sometimes the space requirements you’re working with will require 40mm high EVA bunding to ensure the desired volumetric capacity requirements are reached. Usually bunding needs to cater for 110% of the largest drum or storage device being stored. For example: 200L drums would require a minimum 220L bunded area.
Will EVA handle fork lifts?
Yes it will but measure the ground clearance; some forklifts are different to others. Trade Enviro can custom fabricate ramps to suit your bunding if heavy use is expected. (Please click here for an example).
Is it expensive?
Most of the bunding products are similar in price when you compare them against each other over a meter. The difference is in the install for most of them.. EVA is cheaper over 5 mtrs then other bunding products. The true value is no need for tools and hardware to install it making it a much more affordable priced product.
What is the best way to do corners?
Simply cut it to shape, its easy.
